Reading rockets is a website aimed at “teaching kids to read and helping those who struggle.” An educational initiative of WETA, the public television and radio station in our nation’s capital, through the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs, Readingrockets. org offers valuable resources aimed to inform and inspire teachers, parents, principals, and childcare providers. This grant funded project is guided by an advisory panel made up of leading researchers and experts in the field of reading that produce and distribute research-based PBS television programs, online services like Reading rockets and Colorin’ Colorado (an online resource focused towards ELL students and their parents), as well as many professional development opportunities available at no cost.
